Seats Available in Full-Time MNTC Health Classes

Moore Norman Technology Center’s Dental Assisting, Surgical Technology, Dental Laboratory, and Medical Assisting full-time classes are currently open for enrollment.

Most full-time programs at MNTC begin in August, leaving appropriate time to get financial aid or other funding assistance prepared. Those needing free guidance in career planning or financial aid may call MNTC between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 405-364-5763, ext. 7260.

Dental Assisting teaches students to function effectively as an integral member of the dental health team and to perform chairside assisting and related office and laboratory procedures. The program is nationally accredited by the American Dental Association. Students have the opportunity to earn certifications in radiation safety, coronal polishing/topical fluoride, sealants, nitrous oxide, and will prepare for the Dental Assisting National Board Exam.

Dental Laboratory Technology students make different replacements for natural teeth. They pour models of the structures of a patient’s mouth and follow a dentist’s work authorization. They learn to make wax patterns that are later used to form metal or acrylic resin materials into custom-made appliances to be placed in the patient’s mouth by the dentist. Students prepare for the Recognized Graduate (RG) exam. The Certified Dental Technician comprehensive exam is waived for those who are RG. This program is a Productivity Training Corporation certified program (PTC).

The Medical Assisting program gives students the education and training needed to work as a medical assistant in a variety of health care settings. Curriculum covers classroom instruction in concepts basic to a career in health, allows for hands-on experience in administrative and clinical skills, and an opportunity to participate in an externship within a comprehensive medical office setting. After completion of the program, students may sit for the national Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam. This program is accredited by the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs.

Surgical Technology students at MNTC train for the skills necessary to become an integral member of a surgical team. They become responsible for preparation of the sterile supplies, equipment and instruments, and assisting the surgeon in their use. After completion of the program, students may sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam. This program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee for Education in Surgical Technology in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs.
