Caregiver Technologies Awarded Patent for Internet-based Caregiving Technology

Caregiver Technologies Inc., a leading innovator of software and services for distance caregiving, announced yesterday that it has been issued a U.S. Patent for technology used for Internet-based informal care systems and methods. The patent covers core technology relating to systems and methods involved in the delivery of informal care over the Internet, where informal care is the care normally provided by family caregivers.

The patented technology underpins Caregiver Technologies' software applications, including AttentiveCare, an Internet-based distance caregiving system designed to care for older adults. AttentiveCare provides an intervention alternative to caregivers that may be used to fulfill the care needs of millions of older adults and their caregivers worldwide.

"The technology has the potential to shape the future of aging services, said Ken Nixon, President and CEO of Caregiver Technologies. "This innovation enables caregivers to improve care and quality of life. It allows seniors to remain independent and in their homes longer and it can reduce health care costs. Caregivers can extend their presence. Whether they are a block away or half a world away, they can be there for their loved ones."

Caregiver Technologies' innovative caregiving approach is fundamentally changing how caregivers think about long-term care. When caregivers think of long-term care today, they typically do not think of technology as providing a solution. Now caregivers are discovering that not only can technology provide a solution, it is cost-effective and may be applied in many caregiving situations, even to support individuals with memory loss and early-stage dementia.

Caregiver Technologies is committed to continuing the development of technologies that empower the family caregivers, who are the underpinning of long-term care in the U.S. The looming global aging crisis will present monumental challenges to all developed countries, and Caregiver Technologies is at the forefront of developing technology to address these challenges.

Caregiver Technologies, Inc. is a small startup company that develops software applications and provides related services for the delivery of informal care, not health care. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Oklahoma City, the company is wholly owned by its President/CEO. Caregiver Technologies has completed its initial research and product development, and knows that the population of Americans over age 65 is projected to more than double to 70+ million by 2030, making the market potential for AttentiveCare large.

Nixon said at this time, Caregiver Technologies is actively soliciting an equity investment and/or strategic partners to accelerate the market development and commercialization of its distance caregiving technology. The company is currently located at Moore Norman Technology Center's Business Development Center in South Oklahoma City.
